My Day

Or perhaps I should rename it "My Day... All Before 10:00."

1) I took food to one of my families that is going through a really rough time. At the house, a random man (friend?? uncle?? boyfriend??) showed up drinking a tallboy... at 9:30 a.m.

2) One of my first-graders drew me a picture of a drive-by he recently witnessed at his cousin's house.

3) I found out that the mom and sister of one of my other first-graders are being arrested today for stealing a teacher's purse and using her bankcard to buy $300 worth of lingerie, shoes, clothes, and liquor. *note that the sister is 15 and she went to do this with her mom in the middle of the school day, and the liquor is for her 16th birthday party on Friday, according to the little sister*

4) I had to call CPS on yet another of my first-graders, about which I won't blog (sorry).

I'm telling you... it's. all. about. the. parents! WACK! And what a shame when a few "bad seeds" ruin things for people who DON'T take advantage of the system or of people who help out. Good thing we are discussing anger management this week - now if I can just do as I teach...! :)

Come here often?

Once again, my blog comes to you courtesy of Starbucks - both literally, through their wi-fi, and as my muse. WTF is with the people of the world??

A) There is currently a lady talking to herself at the table next to me. I know she is talking to herself, as there is no one else in this room.

B) A few minutes ago, a child's head popped up next to me and he said, "Boo!"

C) This family came in and proceeded to go totally wild while the mom yelled, "What the hell is going on?!" to the kids. At one point, she told one of the kids to put his clothes back on or he would go to jail. I didn't turn around.

D) Last but not least, there is possibly the geekiest high school couple ever about to go at it across the room. It's always the quiet ones, I tell ya. They started playing that game where you put your hands on the other person's hands and then flip them really fast to try to slap them, and I swear at least one of them had an o-experience from this minimal contact. A minute ago they stood up to see who was tallest and I'm pretty sure the winner was the guy's boner.

p.s. D is kinda making me jealous, and I'm very disturbed by this.

The Right Stuff

I have finally recovered from getting that friend request from my Grandpa, so now I can blog again. Just kidding... I don't really know why I haven't been blogging, but [I'll make a valiant effort to make it true that...] I'm back.

My reappearance is due to the fact (because it IS a fact) that nobody likes hearing about other people's dreams unless they are in them. Isn't that true? I used to just think it was me not liking to hear about my mom's dreams, because it seems like she has a dream story to tell every freaking day. However, in more recent years, I have begun to suspect that, in fact, no one's dreams (including my own) are interesting to others unless A) they can be summarized in 30 seconds or less or B) I make a cameo in them. Thus, my only dream audience is YOU.

Last night, I dreamed (okay, is "dreamed" a word as well as "dreamt," or is only one a word? And if both are words, what is the difference?!) about Jordan Knight from NKOTB. It was so cool. I mean that in the giddiest, hottest slap-bracelet ever, side-ponytail-est sporting way ever! I was sleeping on the school cafeteria floor with the rest of my class (why??), wondering if my miniskirt was revealing too much in my horizontal position (again, why??), when Jordan Knight appeared outside the window. He wanted to know what time it was. I told him. It was great. The end.

Now you're not so sure you've missed this, huh?
