Backstreet's back... ALL RIGHT!

I would really like to know why I woke up with that echoing in my head.

Baggage

I can't remember if I've posted about this show before or not. Forgive me if I have. Scratch that - thank me for the reminder to watch it. "Baggage" is the new game show hosted by Jerry Springer. It is a high quality dating show in which one person chooses between three possible people to date after they reveal 3 deep, dark secrets about themselves. Then, the person they choose gets to decide whether to date THAT person or not after they reveal THEIR deep, dark secret (just one).

Recently, I argued with someone - I can't remember who - that the girls' baggage is never as bad as the guys' on this show. For example, the guys may reveal that they have a 1-inch package, slept with their ex-fiancee's mom, and have $700,000 in debt from online poker. The girls tend to reveal things like, I spend $100 a month on manicures, I change my hair color every 6 months, or my car got repossessed - things that are not necessarily enticing, but not psycho.

I wish I could remember who I argued about that with (it was during a night out with many people and many beverages; lighthearted bantering of course, not a fistfight) so that I could retract my statement. I'm watching an episode now and the girls are freaking PSYCHO! My favorite moment so far was when this one girl revealed that she wears 3 bras at once. The great part? Her explanation: "This started when I began trampolining." Hmm... sounds like a good story.

Does this one warm your heart, Erin?

Last night, I babysat for my little boy angels, Jeffrey (3) and John (1.5). I babysit for them once or twice a week and have been doing so since the fall, so I've gotten to know them pretty well and they are used to me. Last night, J3 turns to me randomly and says, "Miss Lauren, I love you." Totally cute - he did it once a few months ago and melted my heart. So I say, "I love you, too!" (because really, I do). THEN he says, "Miss Lauren, you don't have any friends!" Um, what? What happened to our feel good moment? Haha. He said it in a very concerned way; I'm sure he was not trying to be mean, but it was funny. I reassured him that I do, and then he said, "Well why haven't I ever seen them?" This all kind of makes sense when you think about a 3 year old's world - it is hard for him to picture that when I leave his house I actually have my own life with friends, family, and a separate house. It amused me.

Damn spam!

I just got an email with the subject "Hey gorgeous! It's been way too long." It was a Victoria's Secret ad. Sigh. For a minute there, I thought it was my long lost beach lover or somethin.

Cute kids

I just made Christmas cookies with my niece. She was determined to bake something, and those were the cookie cutters she chose. Nothing wrong with a little pre-Advent-Advent, right?

Meanwhile, the little one is so freaking adorable even though she's def in her "terrible twos." I have a huge mosquito bite on my cheek that of course looks like a big zit (it arrived the day of my first class, after I refused bug spray at a cookout just because I was too lazy to get up and put some on. Ridiculous). She points to it and asks, "Boo boo?" I explain that it just itches, it doesn't hurt. She goes and gets out her "cream" (lotion) that my sister puts on her booboos and then proceeds to rub a huge smear of it all over my cheek and face. It was just so cute.

Love them. I mean, I ridiculously, overwhelmingly, obsessively love them.

Class

Whoever came up with the saying "There are no dumb questions" had never experienced my Child and Adolescent Development class last night.

That said, at one point I decided I better answer a question to demonstrate that I was paying attention. It was one of those horrible experiences when you start answering a question and then get a little tripped up on your words and then halfway through realize you have absolutely no idea what you're trying to say but there's no good way to get out of it so you just keep talking. I'm pretty sure it was karma for thinking the other people's questions were dumb earlier. Oh well... now I know not to answer questions after 9 pm when I've been in class 5 hours with no caffeine.

Stati

(Stati is my preferred word for plural Facebook statuses.)

I have discovered that I now often think in Stati. As in, when something humorous occurs in my life, I automatically translate it into Facebook speak. For example, the other day a 2 year old I was babysitting took a drink of water and then grinned at me after spitting it out all over my arm for no apparent reason. I process the information as "Got spit on by random kid today. Must get real job."

However, I do not want to be a constant FB post-er, just because we all know people who we barely know but are our FB friends who post unnecessary comments like "Yes, finally pooped!" ... otherwise known as TMI.

But you, my blogees, perhaps enjoy the frequency of my TMI posts. So I may start blogging small snippets of my life for your enjoyment. Wait, that's what my blog was supposed to do already? Shoot I am so far behind.

... Weight for it ...

I got my driver's license renewal info in the mail today.
A) It costs $32 to renew your license? That is B.S.
B) It lists my weight as 130. In what century did I weigh 130??
